People are always asking me two questions:
"How long have you been drawing?" and
"Why Dragons?"
The Answers are:
"Forever!" and
"Because I can't draw frogs!
Actually, I've been drawing for as long as I can remember. My Elementary School report cards had notes like "Mrs. Matteson, Bobby would do much better in school if he stopped drawing so much and paid more attention!" I tried, but I couldn't stop. In Sixth Grade I learned the "Power of the Pencil" when I did a crazy cartoon drawing of a girl I secretly had a crush on and when she saw it, she laughed.
I had found my calling.
I did portrait work in High School and College (still trying to impress the girls), cartoons and illustrations for magazines and newspapers, two cartoon books, and then, finally, in 1980 I started doing the cartoon dragon collection you see here. They have become my life's work.
Each pen and ink cross-hatched drawing takes about 20 to 50 hours to complete. The small color professions take about 6 to 10 hours.
I continually add different subjects to the collection and am always open to suggestions.
I also do commission work for businesses and individuals that include logos and T-Shirt designs. Some ot that work can be viewed in the Commission Gallery.
